West Side Story
Is there any questionable content in West Side Story on broadway?
I really want to see West Side Story on broadway, but my mom doesn’t want to see it if there’s anything bad in it. She’s really strict. If it’s like the movie, it’s fine. But, if there’s anything worse in it, she’s not going to take me for my birthday.
My parents went to South Pacific on broadway, and my mom was very upset because there was a scene with nudity in it. Is there anything like that in West Side Story??
Not really. There are only two scenes I can think of that could be bad. There is one scene called the “rape scene”. There’s no nudity, the men just touch one of the female characters in inappropriate spots. If your mom wants to see it, the video link is below. I had no problem watching it but my mom hates that kind of stuff so she didn’t like it. There is one other scene where Tony and Maria get on the bed and kiss and the bed goes offstage. You don’t see anything, but you can assume what happens. I would say it’s fine, and it really is an amazing thing to see. It’s a classic and all the dancing and singing is wonderful. I would strongly recommend seeing it for your birthday.
