Gypsy Broadway Show May be America's largest musical ever made!
The Gypsy Broadway show is here in your city to seduce, with its group of performers on strike! Opening on March 27, 2008, this program will make you enjoy the magic of theater. Originally produced in 1959, based on Arthur Laurent's book, this musical is marked with an intriguing story and great melodies.
The musical is produced by Roger Berlinda, along with The Routh Frankel Baruch Viertel Group, including Roy Furman, Ted Hartley, Debra Black, Roger Horchow, Scott Rudin, David Ian and Jack Viertel.
History is based on a strip-tease artist well known, Gypsy Rose Lee. The musical focuses on Mama Rose, whose name has become a symbol of "the mother of the final show." Mama Rose has a dream – she wants her daughters, June and Louise, to build their careers and become big stars on stage. Luisa's character was inspired by Lee, while June's character is inspired by the actress June Havoc, who was the sister of Lee.
The songs of the Broadway musical Gypsy is simply fabulous! Numbers as "You'll Never Get away from me," "Let Me Entertain You", "Small World" and "Everything's Coming up to the Roses "are unforgettable. This musical is considered one of the greatest advances of the traditional music of the theatrical art form mid-20th century. This form is known as "Music Book." This musical has received the status of being one of the great American musicals of all time by critics and writers. Of these, Frank Rich has even stated that it is the response of American States musical theater 'King Lear'!
