Hollywood Wives Dvd

Anyone else ever seen the Singing Detective?
I just finished watching the Singing Detective (BBC TV miniseries on DVD). I tracked it down after watching the Hollywood remake movie (with Robert Downy Jr).
It was an incredible meta story of exploring one’s own psychology through writing a screenplay about a writer; yet NONE of my friends have seen it.
I feel so isolated, like the author himself (though I realize that I am being melodramatic).
Not only did it have Sir Michael Gambon (Dumbledore) as the main actor.
Not only was it voted one of the top 10 of the BBC’s greatest mini-series of all time.
Not only was the author popular enough to have hollywood remake his stores at LEAST twice.
Not only does it have (hot) Joanne Whalley (Sorcia from Willow, Val Kilmer’s wife) as the lead sexy lady.
Not only was it controversial, with foul language, brazen sexuality, and nudity.
Etc.
But it seems like no one i know has seen it or wants to discuss it.
No.

The Notebook $3.77 When you consider that old-fashioned tearjerkers are an endangered species in Hollywood, a movie like The Notebook can be embraced without apology. Yes, it’s syrupy sweet and clogged with clichés, and one can only marvel at the irony of Nick Cassavetes directing a weeper that his late father John–whose own films were devoid of saccharine sentiment–would have sneered at. Still, this touchingly i… |
