Great Places to Eat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

No matter how many new attractions they add and how many upgrades they make, there is a stubborn perception that the Hollywood Studios theme park is a “half day adventure.”  Many people think that it doesn’t have enough entertainment to keep you occupied for a full day.

Over time, Disney has added some great attractions to “The Studios” park.  From the thrills of The Hollywood Tower of Terror and the Rock N Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith to the fun of Toy Story Mania, this park now has lots of stuff to do!

In addition to plenty of entertainment options, there are also plenty of unique places to eat.  Here is a rundown on some great places for great meals:

• ABC Commissary:  You’ll find American cuisine here at reasonable prices — fast food and international favorites such as curry with chicken, chicken bleu & fish & chips are available, as well as cheeseburgers and chicken nuggets. The atmosphere is boisterous and family-friendly, and there’s a chance to watch clips from your favorite ABC shows on several overhead monitors.

• Backlot Express:  If you’re in the mood for either vegetarian or turkey sandwiches, Angus cheeseburgers, Southwestern salad, chicken strips, or a hot dog — then grab a bite here after you get off your tour, or just if you’re in the area.

• Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream: Visit this large replica of a green dinosaur situated on the edge of Echo Lake. They have soft serve ice cream as was well as other novelties.

• Fairfax Fare:  Get your great American cuisine here, such as sodas, salads, beer, and smoked BBQ specialties.

• Hollywood Scoops: They have terrific hand dipped ice cream cones as well as sundaes.

• Oasis Canteen: Also located on the edge of Echo Lake, this is the place to get your funnel cake! You can add strawberry topping, whipped cream, soft serve ice cream, cinnamon sugar, or powdered sugar to it. Grab yourself a nice cold drink as well.

• Starring Rolls Café:  This sweet little place has great baked goods, sushi, focaccia sandwiches, cappuccino, fresh coffee, and espresso.

• Pizza Planet: Pizzas, as well as salads, cookies, meatball subs, and arcade games.

• The Hollywood Brown Derby: This is an upscale restaurant with its signature cobb salad, grapefruit cake, seared steaks, cocktails, and decor reminiscent of the Golden age of Hollywood.

• 50s Prime Time Café: Lots of nostalgia and comfort food is served here. Watch black-and-white TV while you eat.

• Hollywood and Vine: An all you care to eat buffet features pasta, seafood, poultry, meats, as well as many other delectable dishes.

• Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano:  High-class Italian dishes, such as brick oven baked pizzas, chicken, pastas, seafood, and crispy calamari are served here. The atmosphere is warm and family-oriented, but definitely upscale.

• Sci-fi Dine-In Theater: Kids and teens love this place because they get to sit in an actual 50s car while eating, and watching, old Sci-Fi movies. Adults may feel like they’re back in the day, as they eat here.

• Sunset Ranch Market: The whole family will find casually-served American fare, ranging from veggie burgers and turkey legs and pizza and fries, fresh fruit, BBQ to ice cream. There are five eateries at this location.

• Studios Catering Company: There’s great casual food served here and it’s located on the back lot area. Sit in the shade and dine from an eclectic menu which features chicken Caesar wraps, Greek salads, as well as buffalo chicken, grilled vegetable sandwiches, and many other items.

Are you surprised at how many options are available?  When I put together the list I was too!  And that is a good thing.  The next time you plan a visit to Walt Disney World, give a second thought to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and all the great dining options available there.
