What do people mean by “selling your soul to the devil?”?
Many people claim “oh people in Hollywood have to sell their souls to the devil to get to where they are,” and things like that.
What’s that really even mean?
The term “selling your soul to the devil” comes from the story that Lucifer would grant you anything you desired (fame, fortune, etc) in this life if you would promise your soul to him for eternity after you die.
When this is said about someone, it means that person is accepting, doing, or allowing something to happen or exist that provides immediate gratification without regard to possible future ramifications.
In other words… Enjoy it while you can because you’re going to pay for it later.
