Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra

I have a vintage LP question!!?
I have a near mint condition set of LP’s from what I am guessing to be the early 1930s. It is a series of classical music performed at the Hollywood Bowl in 1928 by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by Eugene Goossens. I read in the little book that this is the first time that an outdoor symphony was recorded successfully.
I want to sell it on ebay but I have no idea how much it may be worth. As I said the actual vinyal is in mint condition-I don’t think they have ever been played. Does anyone have any idea how much this set may be worth? Thank you very much!
They didn’t have LPs in the early 30s. A concert in the Hollywood Bowl in 1928 was recorded on 78s, and you LPs are probably made from these 78s so they could be reissued in the 1950s or later. These are called ‘recuts’.
Historic trivia: The 78s were probably early ‘electric’ recordings. For many years, records were made by the ‘acoustic’ method. A singer or orchestra played into a big paper cone, and the vibrations wiggled a needle in a wax record. There was no electronics involved–no microphones or amplifiers or anything. Around the mid-1920s, electronics were invented that allowed amplification and mixing, so records suddenly got better, and now it was possible to record a symphony orchestra outdoors.
When you sell something on EBay, you are selling it at the true market price because the true market price of something is what someone is willing to pay for it. So I would put a reserve on it of the minimum you’d let it go for, and then see if collectors think it’s worth more than that.
If you list it be sure to include a list of the tracks–I mean what music is on the album.
It’s an interesting thing–I’d like to hear it myself! (Goossens was a GREAT British conductor and composer! He was even involved in a witchcraft scandal!) But it’s probably not worth a lot of money. Maybe $20 to a real collector.
