how does Hollywood work exactly?

I don’t understand why, if you star in a tv show, you can no longer be in a movie. If you’re a television or movie actor, and you do a commercial, your career is over. It is prestigious for some reason to do voiceovers for Disney animations. Ben Stiller still has a career. Please answer me these questions. Thank you.

It depends with what company you’re working with. It’s a contract you sign and not really all of Hollywood works the same. Generally it works like this: if you are in a movie, then you star in a tv show, but usually not the other way around. And if you are a movie actor and you do a commercial, your career is not necessarily over, it just means there isn’t many roles open up for you. Actors usually go down from there. Yes Ben Stiller still has a career, he does many auditions. He is a favorite only because he is well recommended.
