Can I get a job as a Director in Hollywood if I don’t go to one of the top film schools?

If I don’t go to one of the top film schools can I realistically have a career in filmmaking. From the research I’ve done most if not all directors go to USC, NYU, UCLA, AFI or are from a prestigous Ivy or school in England. Is it realistic to go to a good school with a pretty good film program and make it in Hollywood?

Realistically, it will be tough. It’s tough anyway even if you do have a great education and have made all those oh so important connections while in college. However, if you have real talent, you can make it. You need to film film film. Know your craft. There are kids in college now who have been doing film since 5th grade.

A lot of *lesser* schools are getting good support from the industry and their students are winning awards for their films. Here are some schools in the LA area:
