Most Likely To … A look at a play written for high school students
New work by Michael Tester, most likely to … The superlative Musical Senior, following years of high school graduation and awards ceremony. We have our own stereotypes of high schools such as singing, dancing and acting their way through graduation and college.
Directed by Abbe Gail Gross and a cast entirely made up of teenagers, musical genre of the characters everyone knew. Immediately recognize himself or his friends in the shy girl, the popular kids, athletes, friendly Goths, Star Wars-loving, and paranoid gay parade across the stage. The characters whose personalities are extreme and flood and delight the audience.
The numbers Music constantly surprise since the site popular songs and themes of the day. Rosie Theater evokes memories of Gypsy Girl 's Mama Rose while strives for his chance in the spotlight instead of being the wife of the Mayor. Chatterbox Angela is planning her and her twin sister (played by the same actress) Third Annual Sweet Sixteen with the theme of The Wicked Broadway. An ode to Guitar Hero makes an appearance as well as Phantom of the Opera for music several Goths, "Emo spelled backwards."
The concerns of adolescents everywhere are also addressed. "I can be both beautiful and intelligent? Does anyone know I exist? Does he like me?
In two hours without intermission, the parts of the show begins to drag. Harmonies are not always so strict as you expect. The delightfulness and surprises in the writing and performances keep the audience laughing constantly throughout and, in general, the show is a must.
