Piano Bar in New York – The Rum Bar and Karen Brown

The last Saturday night, a friend of ours had some visitors from out of town, and asked to join them at The Rum Bar for a fun night. "And it was a fun night!

The Rum Bar is located in the lobby of the Hotel Edison, near Broadway, at 47th Street. Although I am not familiar with the facilities of the hotel-And I understand that the place has a lot to be proud of "I'm very familiar with the rum bar, then over the years I've spent a good couple of nights there.

For those of you who may wonder why I am writing this article, I set your mind at ease: I have no connection, they are paid or receive gifts from either the hotel or bar. To inform my readers of what a fine time in New York is is my motivation.

Two sections are immediately obvious as you enter the joint, the largest piece of real estate belonging to the long bar-the altar, where the faithful would not be the god Bacchus, only offer their libations, but also make them disappear faster than I can change channels with a remote control. A piano / organ occupies the rest of the smaller space.

I will talk about this: the section of piano bar.

Karen Brown, musician gifted pianist and organist-resident, plays and sings almost every song everyone can think and request. His repertoire is just fabulous. And if she does not know a song by heart, which digs its index music books and produce very little time she leaves. As I do not sing, I almost see and enjoy watching Karen meet applications and those who want to sing.

Besides having a prodigious musical memory, Karen also appears to be fitted remember the name and "recognition of face 'virtues, because they never put a wrong name.

For a while she sings of the crowd favorites, ranging from Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Rogers and Hammerstein Broadway show songs, and more contemporary songs made famous by Sinatra, Streisand, Tony Bennett, Vic Damone, Patsy Klein, Elvis Presley, etc.

Around 10 PM, the real soldiers, including some big names-from famous Broadway shows start to leak to the public with some of his own library.

The Saturday night I had the pleasure of listening to "Sam, the drummer," who not only sang some oldies, but also said some jokes with such perfect delivery embarrass Jerry Seinfeld, or even Jay Leno. And I should mention that Sam is 89 years young? Who cares? The man show As the youngest of laughter and music can do for the soul and body! Anyway, for anyone to follow him would have been a tough go of fact. But his wife followed, and she got over it! She sang some delightful comic songs were even more hilarious jokes Sam.

As I walked around and mingled a bit, I met many people in Europe: a pair of Wales, a London group, and one in Norway. And of course there was a contingent of citizens of Chicago, who were drowning their sorrows far from having lost his attempt to Rio de Janeiro for the 2012 Olympics.

For the price of a few beers and drinks (no cover), New Yorkers and visitors can have a great time. The Rum Bar is a smoke-free establishment and safe to boot. Nobody hassles and if people strong and unpleasant, the waiter and Thailand, who also sings true, will be escorted out.

For 14 years the lovely Karen Brown has entertained his legions of fans faithful five nights a week from 9 pm to 1:30 am The wall wooden bar is right for this kind of open mic entertainment. Even if you do not sing, you'll soon be participate and mouthing "Crazy," "Fly Me to the Moon", or "The Girl From Ipanema."

If you are an American or a visitor from other lands, and come to New York, and if you ever want to see and hear a woman with Perfect Pitch-reach Rum Bar: Karen Brown will welcome. Only be sure to tell Marc sent.
