Founder Alexander Pantages original lineup stacked with MGM films and vaudeville acts, while center stage gave way to live theater. The Pantages Theater was one of the houses built after of the first film of the arrival of talkies in 1930. It was designed for maximum audience comfort, with more than 40% of interior space devoted to public spaces corridors, lounges and bathrooms. The opening night audience was more impressed by the interior of the theater. The Pantages also won the attention of glory, the team more elaborate sound anywhere in the world. In 1959, Universal Pictures Spartacus booked at the Pantages and the long term, sure-fire appeal. To run the event, the house itself had to limit its capacity to 1512 seats. This reduction in the number of places Oscars forced to relocate, but still crashed night at the Pantages.

The Pantages Theater was home to the brilliant performances of the Academy Awards from 1949 to 1959 and in 1967 was sold to Pacific Theatres. Pacific briefly closed the house down for renovation. After undergoing a major restoration, Pantages reopened, refreshed, again taking its place as one of the best movie houses on the west coast. He continued in that capacity for nearly a decade until 1977, when the silver screen went black. Again, the work started in the latest and greatest incarnation of the Pantages in preparing for the race of Los Angeles' El Rey León ". The production returned the brightness magnificent Art Deco-style facility that had been covered by years of pigmentation and deterioration.

Today, the Pantages Theatre is one of the major houses Los Angeles legitimate theater and a favorite TV shows, movies and music videos. Restored to its original state, Pantages offers a variety of interpretations performances. It has also hosted rock concerts, from bands like Dream Theater and Foo Fighters to name a few. Shakira graced the scene in 1997, while in 2006 the Mexican pop RBD, the group recorded their CD / DVD "Live in Hollywood" at the Pantages. The pentagon Theatre is now run by an arm of the Nederlander Organization.
