Best trip of my life was in the Sunset Limited in the 1970s, from Phoenix to Houston. We had a private room with lighting that could change, from bright to moderate, even change color from red to blue, so traveling with a girl who was very erotic. It was like an experience that you see in the movies. I will not go into details, but I remember more or less, each time in the room, and sometimes in rear of the train. I've never had a meal like the one served for dinner our first night on the Limited. Rushing through the desert of New Mexico @ More than 90 miles per hour, being served by an excellent staff, eating with sterling silverware, lenox China, and crystal goblets, like the sun in crimson the southwest, was truly memorable. Alas, those days are long gone. I understand the Orient Express comes close to this experience, but the tarriff is enormous.
