The Color Purple Broadway dazzles and entertains
The Color Purple on Broadway is new and made press releases through the media audience to draw crowds to see the show. The venue is the Broadway Theatre, located at 1681 Broadway at 53rd Street and opened on December 1, 2005. The show has a duration of two hours and forty minutes with one intermission and is considered a musical drama.
The musical is based on the novel by Alice Walker, Pulitzer Prize winner, directed by Gary Griffin with a musical score by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray and starring LaChanze as CelieRenee Elise Goldsberry as Nettie Goldsberry. The show was already a blockbuster Steven Spielberg film of the same name, so that most of the audience very familiar with the contents of the stories. The basis of history is a triumph over adversity of women through the power of love. The production has some great musical moments with the genres of ragtime, gospel and blues dance sequences choreographed by Donald Byrd.
The Color Purple is the story of a family and a woman struggle through adversity to make his voice and power in the world at that time. Production has scored with large audiences and critics for its heartfelt emotions of love, hope and triumph over the struggles of the condition human. Already hailed as a milestone in Broadway with a musical score that runs the genre of music most of the time, heart warming and truly adding to the inspiration of the story.
The Broadway musical production really brings to life the characters of the classic novel by Alice Walker and the characters really come to life in a sincere and emotional. The gospel, jazz, swing and African music are making a real feel for the period and help set the tone for the whole story.
