Rent has completed more than 10 years of continuous run on Broadway. On April 24, 2006, all the original cast of Rent on Broadway Celebrates 10 Years with special performance. His first performance in New York was the February 13, 1996, at New York Theater Workshop. Rent, however, previewed on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre on April 16, 1996, and inaugurated on April 29, 1996.
This very popular Broadway show has enjoyed great critical success, and years of speech mouth popularity. Since December 31, 2006, had 4457 performances Rent is the seventh show more generally on track, and is the third longest being currently running on Broadway – just Beauty and the Beast, and the phantom of the opera in front.
Rent was nominated for ten categories in 1996 Award Tony, winning four of them, to:

Best Music – Jonathan Larson,
Better Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical – Wilson Jermaine Heredia.
He won six of the ten categories he was nominated for Drama Desk Awards, won an Award Pulitzer for Drama in 1996, and two Theatre World Award in 1996 for outstanding new talent – Adam Pascal and Daphne Rubin-Vega.
