Travel in New York? 10 points for the best advice. Thanks?

I am planning a day trip to New York from the 8th Avenue at 46th Street. How do I get to China Town, World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Broadway, Central Park by subway and walking? I have 23 years of age. Is it dangerous to travel on my own during the day in my case, friends can not come with me?
