Annie – 4 Stars (Excellent)

"Annie" is without doubt one of the most inspiring, poignant and positive Broadway musicals in history film.

Even if you did not see Annie as a spectator, who recognizes the key words "its award-winning signature song Tomorrow": "The sun'll come out tomorrow, so you have to hang on until tomorrow. Whatever happens. Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow. Just a day away .

Based on Thomas Meehan musical score of play a huge success, and the screenplay by Carol Sobieski, Annie was directed by John Houston in first and last effort to direct a movie musical. None of his talent was wasted.

A nod to the efforts of Carol Sobieski with the script, as I think its feminine touch had much to do with the finished product. Annie Annie is reminiscent of the comic strip by Harold Gray, but there was nothing of the original comic strip that could have been used in the musical. Sobieski also wrote "Fried Green Tomatoes."

Located in the depths of the Great Depression of the 1930s, the life of the orphan Annie in miserable conditions change drastically when you choose to spend a week in the mansion of Oliver Warbucks, wealthy munitions industrialist driven only by making money and intend to polish his image of capitalism.

Annie (played superbly by Aileen Quinn) becomes in an immediate attention-getter and an irresistible force to be simple and unpretentious in a position of affluence, power and influence dominated by Daddy Warbucks (Albert Finney is at his best in this function). She wins the hearts of everyone in the house more Grace Farrell (Ann Reinking), right, assistant Warbucks.

Yet the world is growing affection for Annie childlike simplicity, move to adopt Annie Daddy Warbucks meets Annie trauma as time is concerned only to find their parents so that she can be part of a royal family.

Enter the serious, Miss Hannigan unkind orphanage owner (an excellent performance action figure by the unique and Carol Burnett), her brother Rooster Hannigan Bad Guy (Tim Curry) and his girlfriend Lily St. Regis (Bernadette Peters). They conspire to kidnap Annie and tries Rooster kill her. After some tense moments for great cinema, executor able Daddy Warbucks "Punjab (Geoffrey Holder) comes to the rescue.

Do not miss as fellow orphan Molly (played by Toni Ann Gisondi), the helicopter moved by Daddy Warbucks, and the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes. Both Carol Burnett and Aileen Quinn was nominated for Best Actress: Golden Globe Awards

The original play premiered in 1977 Annie, won the Tony for Best Musical that year, and closed in 1983 after 2377 performances. Annie came to the big screen in 1982, and remains a classic Broadway musicals. The rights were sold to Annie in 1978 for $ 9.5 million ($ 30 + million dollars today), a record that still stands.

Annie is all that is good and right in a Broadway musical that becomes a movie. Anita teaches adults around the importance of love, family, consideration, kindness, gratitude, understanding, optimism and hope, all that was missing in his life as an orphan.
